Calvin is settled in his PCCU room and doing great. Needing a slight bit of extra oxygen at this point but no ventilator!

His ear canals are too tiny so the ENT doctor was unable to see Calvin’s ear drums. Because of this, he couldn’t confirm or deny if there was a fluid issue so did not put the tubes in… 🤷 The granulation tissue around his trach area was removed with no problems. The doctor replaced his trach for us too. (Calvin was way overdue for a new size but they’ve been on backorder until now so we are happy to finally have a trach that fits him properly.) The audiologist completed the hearing test but we have not heard the results of that yet. These results will give our ENT doctor more information as to what will happen regarding tubes, etc.
We are slightly disappointed that the anesthesiologist did not use Calvin’s port for his IV. There was no one available to access his port because they waited too long to call someone so, rather, they attempted to get an IV at least *three times* before getting one in his left hand… The poor kid had unnecessary pokes and this is exactly why he has a port so this doesn’t have to happen. 🤦
