Calvin’s First “Outing”!

Days Until Discharge: 11 πŸ‘

Today, we took Calvin on his very first “outing” and he handled it like a champ! He has only used his HME (Heat & Moisture Exchanger) once so far and that was for 15 minutes on Tuesday. The HME is a device that allows Calvin to be portable: it “traps” the moisture his lungs produce and uses this moisture to keep his lungs from drying out while he is unhooked from the humidifier system. Today, he used it for over an hour and had no problems!

The cheque presentation for the echocardiography machine went very well. It was about half an hour and Corey shared for five minutes of that. He did a fantastic job – as always – sharing about our journey with the twins and our security and confidence in Christ throughout it. We also heard from Dr. Han and Dr. Bhattacharya (neonatologists) who both shared about the huge need for this machine in the NICU and how, having their own machine, will help diagnosis countless premature (and full-term!) babies’ heart conditions.

On another note… πŸ‘‡

If you have been wondering about something specific or have a question about Calvin’s care, his trach – anything at all! – please ask! There is *so much* going on with Calvin that it is hard to include everything in my posts. To be honest, there are some things I don’t even think of explaining because it has become normal for Corey and I; however, we know that all of this is so new for the majority of you and we want to help you understand!

Comment on this post or send me a private message. I would like to put together some “frequently asked questions” and will post it soon!
