Moving Out of the NICU…

Calvin graduated from the NICU this past Saturday at 140 days old and made the move to PCCU. We are grateful for fresh eyes and different/new medications that can be used in helping our little boy grow stronger. Even small blessings like beautiful windows in Calvin’s new room, being allowed to bring in a snack or warm drink, and no “age rules” when it comes to visitors – which means our foster daughter can visit whenever and Calvin’s cousins can soon meet him.

Pray for our family as this has been and continues to be a difficult transition, especially for me. The staff has been wonderful so far but they are still an entirely new medical team (doctors, nurses, respiratory therapists, etc.) for us to become familiar with and who are learning about Calvin and his ways. I have a brand new social worker to build a rapport with and have also left behind many friends that I had made in the NICU and no longer see on a daily basis. Most days are emotional as we make these adjustments.

God has been so good to us in sustaining Calvin’s life thus far as he was never guaranteed a single day. We trust in and look to Him for each day that lies ahead.
